Week 10: #23

Ok... it's not that I thought I knew everything but I am so amazed at how little I actually knew. There are so many great sites that are available for free use. For example, the photo editing sites. I have been using those often. I also enjoyed the image generators. Those are a lot of fun. There are so many more things left for me to discover on my own now.

Week 9: #22

I looked on LibriVox and their site is really neat. They have volunteers read books which can be downloaded off their site for free. Volunteers have the option of reading a chapter or reading an entire book on their own. LibriVox doesn't have any of the newer books because the books must be public domain before they are recorded. It's a nice project. Out eBranch is different because our material is checked out like a book. We have music, video, and books available.
I saw a book on our site that looked interesting it's "How to Make Someone Love You Forever! In 90 Minutes or Less."

Week 9: #21

I'm not too crazy about podcasts. I would much rather read the material than to just listen to it. This is something I will not use too often... Of course, podcasts are becomin so popular. Who knows maybe I'll learn to enjoy them.

Week 9: #20

I thought this video was pretty cute! I like youtube. I don't use it very much though.
♥ Princess D

Week 8: # 19

There have been several times that I have used other computers that don't have the MS Office installed on them. It's always hard to get used to new things, but I really like this one. I think I might use this one often.

My Puppy Lily

This is my little puppy Lily. She is not always as neatly groomed as she is in this picture. She thinks she's the princess of the house.

Week 8: # 18

I have both a facebook andn myspace account. Facebook has a lot of features that they have recently added. Since I don't use it that often, it gets a little difficult to understand everything. There is an application that has something to do with zombies. You are on a certain zombie status depending on how many people you bite. They also have an application where you can send someone a growing present. It comes in a little pot and at the end of 4 days the gift is revealed.

Week 8: #17

Yahoo! Avatars

Janette showed me how to post my yahoo avatar on here. This is me and my poodle Lily.

Week 7: #16

So now I have added my favorite books and my blog to iHCPL's wiki. Linda and I were adding entries to the wiki, and Linda went back to edit my entry. This would be a nice feature to add to our YA blog. Maybe we could allow the kids to tell us what their favorite books or restaurants are.

Week 6: #14

Technorati... after browsing a bit, I found it to be helpful. I searched and browsed for poodles haircuts. For some reason I have always had a problem finding that on google. Well I did find some blogs that had poodles in them. :)

Week 6: #13

I think del.icio.us is my new best friend. When you search it orders the results by popularity. I think I have over-googled some things like crafts and teen programs. I always get the same results. With del.icio.us you see sites that are worth bookmarking.

Week 5: #12

I don't think that I will use Library Elf very much. I only have one library card, and HCPL is very good about sending out e-mails to let you know that your books are due. This service would work best for someone who has multiple library cards.

Week 5: #11

Searching for books in LibraryThing was very easy to do.

Week 5: #10

I love these image generators.

Week 4: #8

So I've created a bloglines account. I have never subscribed to RSS feeds before, and I have to admit I like it. Bloglines also gives you the option of suubscribing to job postings. Give them your zip code and keyword for a job and they'll let you know when something comes in.

7 1/2 Lifelong Learning Habits

Habits
1. Begin w/ end in mind.
2. Accept responsibility for your own learning.
3. View probs as challenges.
4. Have confidence in yourself.
5. Create your own learning toolbox.
6. Use technology to your advantage.
7. Teach/ mentor others.
7 1/2. Play!

I would say the most difficult habit to develop for me would be to view problems as challenges. I always want everything to turn out perfectly. The easiest for me, of course, would be to play. I guess it's just in my nature! I'm a very curious person.
